Append "test" to subject lines for test sends
There are times (ok, LOTS of times) when we send more than one test in a campaign. It'd be swell if these were clearly identifiable in the inbox. Automagically adding [Test] (or something similar) at the beginning of test send subject lines would be helpful.
I am happy to report that this feature is now available. If you navigate to Home > Settings > General you will find a section for “Test Message Delivery Options”. There is now a new option available for “Prefix the subject of all test sends with ___”.
This is EMPTY for all accounts by default, which mimics the previous behavior. If you elect to append the word “TEST” (or similar) here, it will auto-add to the beginning of all deliveries sent as Test type, for all users. It will not affect any other delivery types.
Enjoy and thanks for your patience!
Glad to see this is in place.

I had a similar idea, but instead of adding [TEST] to all messages, the text that appears in the "Optional Note" text box would be defined by user the exact same way in email you create a signature for your messages.
This way, every time you go to test a message, that text field is repopulated by the users unique message that they set up ahead of time, and much like a signature, the text can be changed or removed if needed for that individual message if needed.

This is a big need. I'm only using Bronto a week and this is something I immediately identified as being needed. I regularly send test emails without adding 'Test' to the subject line and colleagues think they are real emails.

We would like the option to automatically include '**Test**' in the subject line before the subject message for all test emails.

This is a big need. As other posters have said, we are all human, and tagging the subject or from line as a "test" is a great way to accidentally send an email to your subscribers with the word test in it. I would really like to see this added in 2015.

I'm surprised this was suggested in 2011 and hasn't been done yet. Coming from another ISP, the lack of a "PREVIEW:" or "TEST:" in front of the the subject line on test sends is definitely a shortcoming. It's dangerous to add this manually because we're all human, and at least once during the year someone on our team is going to forget to remove it. Making this the default on all test messages, perhaps with an option in settings to remove it or to select your specific test word, would be ideal.
This seems like an easy thing to add to Bronto. Any hopes of seeing it soon?
When sending test email, we sometimes send it to many team members to review it. There should be a notice on these emails that they are a test. this should automatically be added to all test emails

I would like to suggest a small added feature to the Bronto Delivery options.
When sending a TEST email, it would be great if Bronto Automatically added the word TEST: at the beginning of the subject line.
When sending test emails for future deliveries, our list of recipients (all in-office reviewers) would panic thinking they had gone out as a real delivery when they saw them in their in boxes. Because of this, I started adding the the word TEST: to the beginning of it manually. But had to remember to take it out after the ad was approved.
We had laughed the many times we saw other companies ads go out with this, but find it isn't so funny when it happens to you. (which it did ...)
I know this is an error that could have been avoided, and the subject line is controlled 100% by the user, but when you have multiple hands in the pot, inevitably, something is going to get overlooked.
I think adding this feature would make your delivery options all the more user friendly.
Absolutely that would work. Fairly often I send an invitation to customers and if their email bounces, sales works to get the correct address or to have them whitelist us. Then I want to re-send to just that individual (or 2 or 3) without having to figure out a segment or create a list of 1.
a) We reconsider the ability to send regular deliveries to individual contacts, AND
b) we prepend [TEST] to test delivery subject lines?
I don't put TEST in the Subject - just in the optional note that will appear as pre-text. Maybe you don't use that when you test. It's great to ask questions or things for the reviewers to look for. The alternatives are creating a segment to capture one person, a LIST of one person or forwarding from personal email. None seem to be good options to me.
Having "Test" in the subject line of one straggler is much preferable to sending it to an entire list if you forget to manually delete it before sending.
Besides, when you send a test, I believe the metrics are not captured with the rest of the reporting--not major for stragglers, but I would think not a best practice.

Ah... good call. I guess I've never used the 'recipient addresses' field.
Who would I SEND to? You can only send to lists or segments, not individual email addresses. But in the Send Test mode, you CAN enter individual email addresses. Sometimes I include a message, such as Mary Ann asked me to send this to you again... But more often I want it to be seamless to the customer.

Chris - why not just hit 'send' instead of 'send test message' for those stragglers, then? Maybe I'm missing something here.
That SOUNDS like a good idea, but on occasion I send a 'test' as a real email, to a straggler whose email address was corrected for example and I like having control over the subject line. (Not having it say TEST) I just put a message in the optional notes box when I send a test: Test 1, Test 2, etc.
